The Hot Spring - Dumaguete Escapade

I went back to Dumaguete last week to process some papers. Aside from processing those papers, I was also enjoying the wonderful spots in Dumaguete.

I stayed in Dumaguete for a week and fellow Sillimanians and Portal Staffers has decided to go to Forest Camp, Valencia and I was amazed by the changes of the place... The place is way better now that before. They added more pool and made use of the area. Too bad I was not able to take photos of the changes...besides it was not the place that my mind was thinking of, but here are photos of my group enjoying.

Then we went to the only place near Dumaguete where you can see rocks secreting smoke or fog, the Pulang Bato!

We also went to the Red Rock Valley, still, in Pulang Bato, Valencia where you can find a reddish falls, the Pulang Bato Falls.

Lastly, we went to this place where it is rumored that there is an existing HOT SPRING somewhere in Puang Bato, Valencia still. I never thought that I will ever experience a hot spring in my entire life, but here I am in the Red Rock Hot Spring enjoying my relaxing warm bath in this mystical hot spring!

I forgot to tell you that the entrance is uber cheap! As cheap as a cornetto! I will definitely go back there!

Visiting Dumaguete City

I will be visiting Dumaguete either this week or the week after. I need to process my TOR for my work and I will also be renewing some papers as well. I hope to see my old friends.

I'll probably be going to my favorite spots as well...too bad my camera is destroyed. There must be something wrong with the battery. I don't know why it's not charging now...sigh!

GOODBYE TO SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY LANDMARKS

I can't believe they actually did this!!! First, Silliman STEDS and now this!
I have no more words to say but rubbish!

The information below is from Kuya Moses Atega:

To give way to the construction of the main building of the College of Nursing on Silliman University Campus, this Missionary Home originally the dwelling of one of the world's pioneer in Science Research particularly on Myrmecology DR. JAMES W. CHAPMAN and his wife Ethel and children. Most recently the residents of the Faculty Ladies II vacated this home and they are now with Abby Jacobs Hall.

They erased history: DOLTZ HALLERS' FREEDOM WALL is gone! Without the sensitivity, they "cleaned-it-up" and Doltz Hall alumni are reacting. It's back as a boring wall. A favorite campus landmark is gone! The wall made Silliman so cool and a lot of education leaders were actually learning from its sense of purpose.
DOLTZ HALLERS' FREEDOM WALL
Missionary Homes at Silliman University are part of the National Historical Heritage but they are totally erased on the surface of the Earth without proper documentation.

What are they going to destroy next!?

Say Goodbye to STEDS Silliman Branch

STEDS, Silliman branch is the most popular place for students or even teachers in Silliman University to standby or hangout with peers and comrades. It's just right outside the campus.

STEDS is a convenience store that is well known by the people living in the city and even the nearby towns. It has established its name well that it gets stuck on people's mind every time people needs something in a rush. The students, especially the dormers would not even bother go to the downtown area to buy some stuff because they can just simply have a walk to STEDS and buy the stuff that they need.

However, that will not be the case anymore for the next school year...because Silliman University just bought the whole building where the convenience store is at. They say they will use the said building to make a new dormitory for the students.

From a Convenience Store to a Dormitory?

I don't know how students and teachers would react about this issue or if this is even an issue...but for me, they should have given a notice or something that they will be closing for the sake of those people who made STEDS somehow apart of their life.

For me, this is really heartbreaking because STEDS is the place where I stay and wait for my next class. I don't want to go home since our place is far from the school. STEDS is the place where I met my awesome friends! This is the place where we hang out most of the time.

STEDS has been apart of my life and I learned how to love this convenience store.

Did you?

If you do, leave your comment here and share your insight.
